Bandana Tulachan is a freelance illustrator, designer and author based in Kathmandu, Nepal. She likes getting lost and exploring the unknown: sometimes in streets and alleyways, sometimes between trees and mountains, but mostly in her imagination.
Bandana completed her Bachelors in Fine Arts from Kathmandu University Center for Art and Design with a major in Graphic Communication. Since then she has illustrated over 10 children’s books for various publications, and worked on a range of projects from creating illustrations, comics and murals to conducting creative workshops for children. Her first authored picture book, Sanu and the Big Storm, was created during a children’s book residency organized by Srijalaya in 2015. Bandana hopes to create works that are full of whimsy and imagination.
Currently she is part of Virangana Comics Collective, a platform that aims to create a space for expression and collaboration to comics artists.
